Travel Diary: SSEAYP in Indonesia

We are down to our last port-of-call – Indonesia. The country program started with a gathering at a big hotel in Jakarta. We had our homestay matching the next day. My homestay family has four members and they are muslims; my homestay buddy was Beuu from Thailand. We were taken to a Nasi Padang restaurant where we used our hands to eat. It was not so new to me since Filipinos are used to eating with our bare hands. Our homestay family also took us sightseeing at Monas or Indonesia’s National Monument. SSEAYP in Singapore

The next port of call (POC) for the Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP) after Thailand is Singapore. On the same day, we were sent out with our homestay families. I was homestay buddies with Riku from Brunei and our homestay mom’s name […]

We journeyed for about a week to reach Ho Chi Minh City, previously named Saigon in Vietnam. The Vietnam Country Program started last November 11, 2016. Each Discussion Group (DG) went for the Institutional Visits and in the evening, we attended a formal dinner event on our first night where each contingent showcased a 3-minute performance. The next day, we finally met our homestay families and homestay […]

Travel Diary: Youth Leaders Summit

I’m back with more updates. I uploaded this article a bit later because we left Japan just right before I can post-process my photos. Anyhow, I wanted to share about my last few days in Japan before we boarded Nippon Maru. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, read my article about SSEAYP here. Institutional Visit and Discussion Group After my homestay program in Mie Prefecture, we proceeded to the National Youth Center for the annual Japan-ASEAN Youth Leaders Summit or YLS. We were divided according to our Discussion Groups (DG) to make institutional visits relative to us and […]
